Cost Considerations
These are the factors that determine the effort and therefore the price:
The price of a website depends on many technical, content-related and procedural factors and it is difficult to give a flat price.
- Technology: Which CMS should be used and are there special functions such as interfaces, login areas, configurators or similar?
- Scope of Content: Does the website get by with just a few subpages, content components and graphics or would you like a little more? Will multilingualism be added?
- Design: Should the design follow learned standards or are there reasons for a very unique appearance? Is there a corporate design that already specifies a lot or should the brand also be reinvented in the design process?
- SEO & Content: Should the website have good visibility on Google in the future or should existing rankings be maintained during a relaunch? Can existing content be reused and who will take care of writing and adding new content?
- Accessibility: The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) requires that Australians with disabilities have equal access to goods, services, and information. The Australian Human Rights Commission recommends conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as the practical standard for meeting these obligations online.
- Concept & Briefing: Is there already a clear concept and briefing or do many technical, content and design specifications still have to be worked out?
- Stakeholder Management: We underestimated this for years. How many people are involved in the project and who wants to have a say? How many different departments in the company need to be involved (e.g. Marketing, Sales, HR and management)? Is there a fixed contact person on the customer's side who can make decisions independently?
These are the essential factors that determine the price of a website and the resulting scope is really large. Implementation of really small websites for limited purposes for only $5,000 - $10,000 (AUD) are possible, larger relaunches will most likely require a significantly more.
